Romance between Jason and Ferran and I wished there was a bit world building since it was interesting reading what little was revealed to readers One of the sweetest sci fi interspecies romance novellas ever I was delightfully surprised by how invested I found myself in both Jason and Ferran and their relationship after so few pages And the amount and depth of world building that happened so uickly was wonderfulI actually teared up at the ending which rarely happens in short stories Brilliantly doneIncluding this together with its seuel was a lovely idea I can t wait to spend time with these characters Some Favorite uotes view spoilerI new it I What Is a Googly?: The Mysteries of Cricket Explained knew you would Inew it I new Ferran whispered his voice catching roughly I love you I m sorry I love you have I ruined everything elseI think forever suits us better hide spoiler This review was originally written for The Romance Reviews and can also be found thereOPENING WORLDS was a very nice surprise indeed Romance at its best with exuisite characterization and extraordinary descriptions Funny how such a short story can pack so muchCaptain Jason Kim is a somewhat jaded and reserved man who holds his business close and has only respect to show on the outside He is strong willed serious and much respected by his crew Still he can t help it but be annoyed when he needs to ferry three Perels to their home world He considers them promiscuous and charming enough to dazzle his crew until they are nothing than the sum of their hormones is never good for a ship on a mission He just doesn t like it Then he meets Ferran a Perel who is intrigued by Jason s aloofness but who respects the distances and turns out to be a great conversationalist and pleasant companyJason might have started it as nothing than the desire for some company but soon enough he s than intrigued by Ferran and the feeling is mutual But Ferran has just a few days before he has to return to his home planet after a year of seeing the world and he won t ever be able to leave All that awaits him there is marriage to a woman who will have a few husbands and won t see him as than her servantThe descriptions in this short story were truly amazing I soaked up all the details and imagined all the pretty pictures in my head There wasn t a lot of room there to make this story as elaborate as a novel might be but it still said all it needed to say and brought it to the reader with a striking flare of romanceI loved the world and the physical characteristics of Perels but if not for the feeling I got while reading the romance part of it it would have been a four star rating for me Cari Z gave their story a beginning hot middle and a fantastic conclusion and I can honestly say nothing was missing for me I could feel the desire as well as love and that is exactly how it should beThere should definitely be when it comes to this world and I do hope the author decides to give us even crazier descriptions and a longer romance but OPENING WORLDS is perfect just the way it is. Must return home to domestic obligation and impending marriage lasting romance seems out of the uestion Nevertheless his charm begins to open Jason up and the time they spend together the difficult it becomes to say goodb.

Review This was an enchanting read with fascinating world building and a charming love storyReviewed for Brief Encounters Reviews me this was an excellent example of good science fiction with accessible and attractive characters and enough difference to show the alien races yet not full of too weird pronunciations or ritualsThe passengers from Perel are on their final fling before settling down in their matriarchal society with female mates and children for the fertile men Ferran nows his duty yet is irresistibly drawn to Jason and not just for physical gratification The Perel are sensual uninhibited players but Ferran distances himself from the promiscuous behaviour of his cousins We are than our sexuality Captain he replied a little less fluidly than before I would never presume to ask for than you wish to give I simply thought you might find our culture interesting Jason is a familiar character the firm but fair captain of his ship The interactions with his crew are entertaining and revealing a good example of show not tell illustrating the respect he has for and from themWhat I particularly liked was that even in the short format there was time spent on their rather old fashioned but delightful courtship Both men show respect and civility towards each other though they re obviously sexually attracted Their first touch the Perel method of farewell is beautifully understated yet sensual Ferran leaned his upper body close to Jason s and turned his head slightly so that their right temples touched Jason felt the intense heat of Ferran s skin and the warmth of his breath on his cheek When they do finally go to bed they re very hot together Jason s relief is amusing at finding the intimate plumbing the same But there s still plenty of the story to let this relationship develop until their love affair leads to the inevitable conflict between their duties and culturesThe author s style is lyrical and vivid the story flows and the characters are well defined There s a strong awareness of the fact they re from different races the description of the alien world is fascinating but the dialogue and behaviour is never implausible I can totally believe Jason and Ferran as a coupleMy only niggle was the rather too easy wrapping up of the story A lot of issues were resolved and decisions made in a very short time At the 80% ish point I d realised I was dreading finishing the story partly because I was enjoying every word but also because I felt there was much to Jason and Ferran s story that would never be told Maybe it was just wishful thinking on my part But although I m sure readers will be pleased with the ending without giving any spoilers I wanted time both with the two worlds and also with Jason and Ferran s relationshipThis was a rare example of a short story that delivered a long tale it felt well balanced between description and action the love story was allowed a plausible time to develop and the sex was in context I rate it A by pettyprosemy opinion alone Part. Captain Jason Kim is less than thrilled when the mission log for his merchant starship includes ferrying three male Perels back to their home planet after sowing their wild oats across the 'verse After being burned in his.

Of the Wild Passions anthology LOVED this one My favorite in the series I loved the world building the characters and how much was packed into a short story I see there is a seuelwill definitely be picking that one up There s a certain charm despite the fact that it s written somewhat stiffly with too much telling to showing Feels like a new author s first storyI don t uite see what these two see in each other I 竹光始末 The Bamboo Sword And Other Samurai Tales know they like each other and they are both likable but what s the specific draw for them But hey I m willing to go with itNote the cover as shown on GR doesn t match the story It does not take place between two buff loin clothed aliens in a swamp 35 stars A lovely sweet story about an alien from a secretive planet and a spaceship captain Really enjoyed it Included in the ebook copy of Book 2 I m not very fond of futuristic books not that I don t like them it is mostly because sometimes I don t understand themThis was different as it was very short the story was very easy to followedEven though many of you will complain about the length of the book but for me was just right And I really it itOne thing that I need to mention is the cover The cover was confusing or deceiving how ever you want to called itI was expecting a story about 2 aliensI m sure Jason was human and his ancestors were from Korea Never mind the story was still uite lovelyAnd the cover was gorgeous Jason Kim is a captain of a merchant starship which takes on board allinds of passengers including the mysterious and outgoing alien Perels He s a little less than happy to be taking three of them back to their home planet especially as he s still stinging over the end of a previous relationship However one of the Perels Ferran proves to be different from the others and seeks out Jason s company These two lonely souls find they have a lot in common but Ferran s obligations to duty and family back on Perelan make any lasting relationship impossible Falling for Ferran despite his reservations Jason must make the most of his time with Ferran but will a few moments be enough to last for a lifetimeOpening Worlds is a fantastic short story that is the preuel to and included with the full novel Changing Worlds which takes place directly afterOpening Worlds is a story filled with emotion I felt warmth love desire yearning loss sadness and joy all in the space of a few thousand words Cari Z s intricate details and deliberate pacing build not only a believable relationship between Jason and Ferran but a mutual bond built on friendship and working on both a physical and intellectual level Not only was I rooting for the couple to end up together I felt that they belonged together and brought something valuable into each other s lives The ending was satisfying either as a preuel or stand alone though I can t imagine not wanting to read after this Highly recommendedReview cross posted to Infinite Love Cari Z always manages to write such enjoyable reads I really liked this one for it s slow developing. Last relationship he wants nothing to do with the sensual uill haired creatures It's just his luck that Ferran one of the Perels takes a distinct liking to himFerran is captivated by Jason's aloof nature but for one who.
